Educatio Christi aims to advance high-quality scholarship on the relationship between Christian theology, Christian education, and contemporary social transformation. The journal seeks to provide an international platform for scholars to examine how Christian beliefs, practices, institutions, communities, and educational traditions are interpreted, negotiated, and transformed within diverse cultural and social contexts.
The journal is particularly interested in research from Southeast Asia and the Global South, while remaining open to comparative, transnational, and international studies. It welcomes empirical, theological, historical, biblical, educational, and interdisciplinary approaches, provided that manuscripts make a clear contribution to contemporary scholarly conversations and demonstrate relevance beyond a narrowly descriptive local context.
The scope of Educatio Christi is organized around four interconnected areas:
1. Contextual Theology and Lived Christianity
This area includes contextual theology, lived religion, public theology, indigenous and local Christianities, contextual ecclesiology, Christian ethics, Christian praxis, and studies examining the interaction between theological traditions and lived religious realities.
2. Christian Education and Formation
This area covers Christian religious education, theological education, pedagogy, curriculum studies, faith formation, Christian educational institutions, youth and religious formation, teacher education, educational leadership, and innovative approaches to Christian teaching and learning.
3. Christianity, Culture and Society
This area explores Christianity in relation to contemporary cultural and social issues, including identity, gender, migration, ecology, politics, interreligious relations, peacebuilding, social justice, community transformation, public life, and popular culture.
4. Christianity, Media and Emerging Technologies
This area focuses on the interaction between Christianity, media, and technological change, including digital religion, artificial intelligence and theology, social media, digital religious authority, online religious communities, digital culture, and technology-enhanced Christian and theological education.
The journal also welcomes biblical studies, systematic theology, church history, missiology, pastoral studies, and related theological disciplines when they engage clearly with contemporary contextual, educational, cultural, or social questions.
Educatio Christi particularly encourages manuscripts that connect specific local experiences with broader regional or international discussions. Accordingly, the journal prioritizes contributions that move beyond descriptive accounts by offering clear theoretical, methodological, theological, educational, or comparative contributions to existing scholarship.
