Pandangan Yohanes Calvin Mengenai Korelasi Antara Justification Dan Sanctification Sebagai Sebuah Pendekatan Membangun Nilai Diri
Abstract
The understanding of God’s grace in justification and sanctification serves as the foundation of Christian faith within Reformed theology. John Calvin emphasizes justification as the work of God declaring humanity righteous through faith in Christ, while sanctification is the renewal of life by the Holy Spirit as the fruit of faith. This study highlights the issue of congregational identity crisis and the declining understanding of self-worth rooted in God’s grace. Using a qualitative approach with theological-descriptive analysis through the study of Reformed theological sources, the research finds that justification provides the basis for spiritual identity, while sanctification restores character according to the image of God. This understanding affirms that self-worth is not built on worldly achievements but on God’s grace, making it highly relevant in addressing contemporary identity crises.
